The University of Southern California’s Roller Hockey team is made up of a competitive group of talented Inline-Hockey players.
We practice twice a week in nearby facilities and participate in weekend long tournaments in many different locations throughout California, including Escondido, Huntington Beach, Corona, Santa Barbara, and West Covina, as well as an annual kick off tournament in San Jose.
We compete Regionally in the West Coast Roller Hockey League and Nationally in the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association against some of the best teams in the nation. At the end of the year, we have a chance to compete in the National Championship Tournament.
Although we are serious about our success as a team, we also strive to have a great time playing hockey. We are not only a team on the rink, but off the rink as well.
Last year, our team featured a talented group of seasoned USC inline hockey players, as well as an impressive freshman class that has helped take USC Roller Hockey to another level. We are eager to welcome new talent to our team and look forward to being a dominant force.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How often does the team practice?
Answer: We practice twice a week in nearby facilities. On a typical week, we have one practice on Sunday and another on Tuesday.
Question: Does it cost money?
Answer: We receive funding from the school to cover some costs but we have to split the rest among the members of the team. These “dues” will cover the year’s expenses which can include: equipment, travel, league fees, and practice fees.
Question: Is it possible to participate in other organizations or clubs and play on the Roller Hockey team at the same time?
Answer: Of course! Many players on our team are involved with fraternities and other organizations around campus. Although we do take our team seriously, Roller Hockey is not too much of a time commitment (only two practices a week and weekend long tournaments sporadically throughout the year).
